Safety & Training

Safety is our primary focus.

All Club Cherokee aircraft are professionally inspected and maintained.   Our operating budget, without special assessments, is sufficient not only to perform regular service, maintenance and overhauls, and also to upgrade the fleet as needed to ensure each aircraft is suitably, safely and comfortably equipped.

Flight Instruction

Of course, the pilot is the most important element of safe flight and there is no substitute for training.  Club Cherokee is fortunate to have several CFIs members, many of whom are available to provide for-hire instruction to members.

Craig Schmidt is Club Cherokee’s Chief Maintenance Officer and Chief Flight Instructor, available on a full-time basis to club members.  Craig is a CFI, CFII and MEI with more than 8900 hours total time, and more than 4100 hours of instruction given*.  Craig is a part 121 and part 135 charter pilot, with significant flight experience in aircraft including Beechcraft 1900  and the Boeing 727.      Craig offers members a wide array of flight instruction services including ground school, test preparation, BFRs, general aircraft checkout, achieving Private and Commercial Certifications and obtaining an Instrument rating.  Craig can be scheduled online as easily as scheduling club aircraft.   Best of all, using club aircraft and a Club Instructor, you’ll get the training you know you want and need in a very convenient manner, and also at a fraction of the price you’d spend at an FBO.

Other Club Cherokee flight instructors include Tom Bailey, Barb Johnson, Cal Fogelman, Randy Donnell and Rick Hulse.    Contact information for all CFIs is available on in the “Member Resources” section of the site.
