Crystal Airport

Club Cherokee has its primary base at Crystal Airport (KMIC) in Crystal, Minnesota (a northern suburb of Minneapolis).  The Club hanger is on the east side of the field in Aisle 9 (red 'X' on the map)  and can be reached through airport gate D, located off of Bass Lake Road. The 130' X 60' Crystal hanger is our largest and is the home of most of the aircraft, the main office, aircraft maintenance and washing facilities, and the club meeting/training rooms. Equipment available to club members includes an instrument simulator suitable for meeting some instrument currency requirements, three computers with Internet access for weather reporting and access to the Internet-based club flight scheduling system.

Minneapolis Crystal Airport (MIC) is located just south of I-694 and east of CR-81 in Crystal, Minnesota. The main hangar facilities are located on the east side of the field, through the Gate D entrance off of Bass Lake Road.

The newly remodeled flight planning room provides online access as well as printed materials and a large work surface for laying out charts.

 

MIC Lounge MIC Conference Room

The lounge is a great meeting place and waiting area for passengers, as well as talk about flying. A television and DVD player are also available for watching training videos.

 

The meeting/training room has hosted avionics training classes, instrument ground school, board meetings and is available for individual instructor use.
MIC Maintenance Bay  
The heated maintenance bay provides a comfortable environment in which maintenance activities can be performed year-round.  

 


 

Lake Elmo Airport

The second facility is a hanger at Lake Elmo Airport, in Lake Elmo, Minnesota.  This hanger is located on the North side of the airport and can be accessed through Gate A off of Manning Avenue.  It is home to one of the aircraft and will has a small auxiliary office.

Lake Elmo Airport is located nort of I-94 and east of Manning Avenue in the east Twin Cities Metro area. The hangar is located on the north end of the field, with access through Gate A off of Manning Ave.
